Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre offers a wide range of retailers, markets, cafe's, and restaurants.

The town centre is easily accessible via foot, bicycle, public transport and car. There are several car parks; a large bus station with access across the region; and a train service that runs every half an hour between Cardiff Central. The town centre is accessed directly via the Taff Trail and has a number of cycle stands and cycle friendly hotels. For those with mobility problems there is a Shopmobility service that runs from St Tydfil's Shopping Centre.

The town centre is home to a number of recognised high street names, such as Peacocks, Clarks, Wilkinsons, Boots and many more. There are also a number of invaluable independent traders that offer unrivalled service in their chosen area, such as Anne's Pantry, a family run cafe serving home cooked meals or even the Castle Hotel for the visitor that just has to have more than a day at Merthyr.
